Annnd we're back!
Happy belated New Year, everyone!
I hope your January / spring semester / pre-seasons (or whatever other time period your sport revolves around) has started off with good energy.
I realized last week that many of you ended up on my email list through previous coaching education projects I've worked on and probably don't know who I am. I also figured some of you might have signed up for my newsletter via social media and might know a little bit about me but not much.
With that in mind, I want to take this newsletter to introduce (or reintroduce) myself to all of you.
My name is Tim Kettenring and I own Maverick Human Performance. Maverick is a company dedicated to giving coaches more practical training tools to better prepare their athletes.
I'm going into my 17th year of being a strength & conditioning coach. I've spent time at every level of sport, from high school through professional, and in both the team sport and private sectors. I got into coaching because I was fortunate enough to have had some great coaches who helped me better understand myself and my potential.
I also faced some significant challenges as a high school and college athlete that I struggled to navigate and had I had more support, I probably would've handled them better. These experiences made me want to be the kind of coach I needed during those times, but didn't always have.
My experience in coaching is both broad and deep. I draw on these experiences to provide resources for coaches in similar situations who need pragmatic solutions, not empty promises and snake oil.
Currently, my resources focus on athlete conditioning (the forgotten half of "strength and conditioning") and range from free guides you can use right away to my comprehensive Coaches' Conditioning Course.
I also offer program audit and 1:1 consulting services for coaches who need more focused and individualized support.
My goal with MHP is to provide as practical and targeted resources for coaches so they can spend less time trying to solve problems and more time implementing solutions.
If I can ever help you, please don't hesitate to reach out: tim@maverickhumanperformance.com.
Thanks for reading this and thanks for being here!
I hope you all have a great 2025!
